At Fall 2024, four of my classmates and I were tasked to design a family of products in a product category and sub category of our choice. We picked furniture and living rooms. We were then tasked to develop an entirely new and unique brand for our chosen product category and design products for our brand.
Each group member picked a product (piece of living room furniture) to design for our brand. I picked a couch/sofa.
We presented our final designs to a panel of industry professionals; here is the feedback they gave us for my couch:
"The couch being modular and adopting features from the chair; it would've made more sense to fully adopt the design of the chair and duplicate it to make the couch"
"The couch should've adopted the same angular pitch as chair"
Based on this feedback, during the next semester I took a couple weeks to revisit the couch and updated it.
